Why Anthropic? Why this role specifically?
I've been a heavy Claude user since the API opened in 2023, drafting product specs in it, arguing with it about architecture, occasionally letting it talk me down from a bad idea. So when I saw the Senior Product Designer job posting, the framing of what does honest AI feel like in a chat surface felt less like a job description and more like the question I've been turning over in my head for two years.
What I want from this role specifically: a small enough team that I get to feel the consequences of what I ship, and a design-system layer ambitious enough that the work compounds rather than evaporates. From the job posting, both seem true here.
I've spent the last three years leading end-to-end design on Claude-adjacent surfaces. The work I'm proudest of has always sat at the seam between trust and capability, places where a worse design would make a great model feel evasive. I'd like to spend the next stretch doing that work, but inside the building where the model actually lives.
