About the role
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape how millions of people work with Claude. You'll partner closely with research, eng, and policy to take open product questions, what does honest AI feel like in a chat surface? how do you make a long agent trace legible?, from blank canvas to shipped feature.
The team is small. The surface area is large. We ship every Friday and prefer real-life users over internal demos.
What you'll work on
- Lead end-to-end design for a major Claude surface, discovery, sketching, prototyping, polish, and post-ship iteration.
- Shape the design system primitives that every other surface inherits from. We have one. It needs a thoughtful caretaker.
- Run small qualitative studies with our users, devs, writers, researchers, and translate the findings directly into product decisions.
- Mentor two mid-level designers and one design engineer.
What you bring
- 6+ years designing consumer or prosumer product surfaces with measurable impact.
- A portfolio of shipped work, not concept reels. We look closely at the messy middle.
- Comfort working in prototype tools and production code (we use Figma + React; you don't need to be an engineer but you should be able to read a PR).
- A point of view about how AI surfaces should feel, and the patience to defend it across many stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience designing for technical or developer audiences.
- A writing practice, essays, longform reviews, design crits. We hire writers.
- Time spent inside a small team that grew quickly, you've felt the shape of that transition.
